Latino

A person who was born or lives in South America, Central America, or Mexico or a person in the U.S. whose family is originally from South America, Central America, or Mexico.

Latinx

A gender-neutral term used in lieu of "Latino" or "Latina" to refer to a person of Latin American descent. Using the term "Latinx" to refer to all people of Latin American descent has become more common as members of the LGBTQ community and its advocates have embraced the label. The gendered structure of the Spanish language has made "Latinx" both an inclusive and controversial term.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

A period from September 15 to October 15 in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. President Lyndon B. Johnson first introduced National Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968, it was later expanded to be a full month.
