Weber's 3 Types of Authoritative Power
the ability to achieve goals when others are trying to prevent you from achieving those goals
Weber's definition of power:
we see power at work when one party prevails in a conflict (more power in a particular setting)
One dimensional power:
when those in power prevent or deflect challenges to their authority (agenda setting and being denied a place at the table)
two dimensional power:
when powerful people convince others that their views and ideas are correct and should be accepted (convinced to support something even though it may not be in our best interests)
three dimensional power:
- first dimension power
- the power elite have lots in common in the political, military and corporate worlds
