Eyepiece
Also known as Ocular.
Lenses contain 10x magnifying lenses.
Nosepiece
Wheel that holds the objective lenses. Turn nosepiece to change lenses.
Objective Lenses
Four silver tubes coming down from nosepiece. Shortest cylinder = 4x -> 10x -> 40x -> 100x *(We don't use 100x)*
Total Magnification
Product of the magnification of the two lenses. Eyepiece and Objective.
*Eyepiece = 10x
*Lowest power objective = 4x
*Total Magnification = 10x x 4x= 40x
*10x -> 40x (400)

What is the small knob on top of the large knob(Coarse Adjustment) called?

What does the knob do?
It moves the stage up and down -> to focus.
Before putting a slide on the stage or turning nosepiece to change objective lens.
Turn coarse adjustment knob to lower the stage as far as it goes.
Field of View
Circular area that you see when you look through eyepiece.
