Developmentally Appropriate Communication for Infant:

1. Use and understand non verbal communication
2. Use gentle handling and quiet voices
3. With stranger anxiety beginning at 6 to 8 months allow caregiver to hold baby as long as possible and if nurse must hold baby, position baby so that caregiver is seen.
