the major category into which a literary work fits. the basic divisions of literature are prose, poetry, and drama. Ex: autobiography, biography, diaries, criticism.
literally means "sermon", can include any serious talk, speech, or lecture involving moral or spiritual advice. Ex:
figure of speech using deliberate exaggeration or overstatement, often have comic effects but serious is also possible, produces irony. Ex: The stuff is used motor oil compared to the coffee you make.
figure of reasoning which one or more questions are asked and then answered by the same speaker, can be used to ask questions which you think the reader obviously has on their mind and would like to see it answered. Ex: a rose can present visual imagery while also representing the color in a woman's cheeks.
