If the base verb ends in (consonant + vowel + consonant) and a stressed syllable, double the final consonant.
If the base verb ends in (consonant + e), add (d).
If the base verb ends in (ie), add (d).
If the base verb ends in (y), change (y) to (i) and add (ed).
HINT: Doubling the consonant will keep a short vowel sound. Don't double the consonant if you want a long vowel sound. (For example: tapped or taped)
