Terms in this set (10)
Define probability
likelihood of an event occurring
Define deviation
difference between expected - observed (or vice versa) and the total number of occurrences
What is the probability scale?
0-1
What is the equation for probability %?
number of favorable outcomes/total number of possible outcomes X 100%
What is the equation for % deviation?
sum of differences between expected and observed/total occurrences X 100
Which comes closer to the expected results? Individual or class data?
Class data, because the greater the number of trials, the more accurate the result.
Define the additive rule of probability
If there's more than one way a result can occur, the probabilities are added together. (ex: w/ two coins, H/T combinations are 50% b/c HT(25%) + TH(25%)
If three coins are flipped at the same time, what is the probability that all three will result in heads?
.5 x .5 x .5 x 100 = 12.5%
Would a deviation in observed and expected results always indicate experimental error?
No because it's all a matter of chance.
Do the results in a Punnett square genetic problem tell you what must happen or what might happen?
What might happen b/c the probability remains the same no matter the former outcomes. Possible outcomes aren't limited to what hasn't been done yet.

calculus
Prove that $\lim _{x \rightarrow 0} H(x)$ does not exist, where $H$ is the Heaviside function $$ H(x)= \begin{cases}0 & \text { if } x<0 \\ 1 & \text { if } x \geq 0\end{cases} $$
algebra
Find the rectangular coordinates of each point with the given polar coordinates. $\left(6,45^{\circ}\right)$
pre algebra
Solve each inequality. Graph the solution on a number line. 0.2g>1.8
algebra
Simplify, if possible. $$ x ^ { 6 } y ^ { 5 } $$
