Potent diuretic (increased passing of urine)
Actions:
Inhibits (slow down or prevent) reabsorption of sodium chloride, promotes prompt diuresis (increased production of urine), vasodilation.
Indications:
1. Congestive heart failure
2. Pulmonary Edema
Precautions:
1. Should be protected from light
2. Dehydration
Side Effects:
Few in emergency usage
Dosage:
40-80 mg

Pediatric Dosage:
1mg/kg
Vasodilation -
+ the dilation of blood vessels, which decreases blood pressure
Diuretic -
+ causing increased PASSING of urine
Diuresis -
+ increased or excessive PRODUCTION of urine
Polyuria -
+ production of abnormally large volumes of dilute urine.
sodium chloride -
+ NaCI, a colorless crystalline compound occurring naturally in seawater and halite; common salt.
