6.1 Ratios and Unit Rates

A ration is a comparison of two amounts. It is done by division.
These are ratios that are equivalent when they are simplified. For example:
2/3= 60/90= 4/6
Two Types of Ratios
The two type of ratios are matched and unmatched. Matched unit ratios means that you must convert something to another thing. Unmatched ratios cannot be converted.
A rate is a ratio with two amounts that have different kind s of units.
A Unit Rate is a rate that has been simplified and it will always have a denominator of one. They are meant as there are 6 blanks per one blank.
Two Types of Measurement Systems
In the United States of America, we use the customary system. In every other country in the entire world, they use the metric system. The metric system is made up of powers of ten. The customary system has almost no patterns because 🇺🇸AMERICA🇺🇸!
