Clinical uses of CCBs

- HTN in pts with asthma, DM, and/or peripheral vascular disease (BBs can worsen these)
- All are useful for angina
- NDHP CCBs are also used in Afib

Most have short half-lives following oral dose except amlodipine

Adverse effects

Non-DHP CCB should be avoided in HF and AV block (Verapamil) due to negative inotropic and dromotropic effects

DHP CCB sxs of adverse reaction

Dizziness, HA, fatigue, peripheral edema, and GINGIVAL HYPERPLASIA.
