Sound that emanates from the ambience (background) of the setting or environment being filmed, either recorded during production or added during postproduction. Although it may incorporate other types of film sound -- dialogue, narration, sound effects, Foley sounds, and music -- ambient sound does not include any unintentionally recorded noise made during production.
Sound that counterpoints or contrasts the image
Where the character talks to the audience directly. Don't confuse this with a point of view shot. It is very unusual and breaks the reality for the audience, but also helps us to see that character as an equal, a friend, as someone to sympathise with. Often seen in shows like Scrubs and Malcolm in the Middle.
When a sound carries over a visual transition of a film; Music that connects scenes, dialog that is heard before the speaking characters appear.
