Clans were an important part of their life. Men and women had different roles, but both were important. Women had power within the village, and houses and property were shared.

The Plains Indians used the buffalo in many ways. They ate the buffalo meat, carved the bones into tools, and wove hair into rope. They used the buffalo skin for covers for their shelters, blankets, and clothing.
