Primary Source
Primary sources provide first-hand testimony or direct evidence concerning a topic under investigation. They are created by witnesses or recorders who experienced the events or conditions being documented. Often these sources are created at the time when the events or conditions are occurring, but primary sources can also include autobiographies, memoirs, and oral histories recorded later. Primary sources are characterized by their content, regardless of whether they are available in original format, in digital format, or in published format.
Secondary Source
a secondary source of information is one that was created later by someone who did not experience first-hand or participate in the events or conditions you're researching. For the purposes of a historical research project, secondary sources are generally scholarly books and articles. Also included would be reference sources like encyclopedias.
Clarify
to make (an idea, statement, etc.) clear or intelligible; to free from ambiguity.
Cohesion
The use of repetition, transitional expressions, and other devices (cohesive cues) to guide readers and show how the parts of a composition relate to one other.
Context
the parts of a sentence, paragraph, discourse, etc. immediately next to or surrounding a specified word or passage and determining its exact meaning
Evaluate
to think carefully about something before making a judgment about its value, importance or quality
Evidence
the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.
Inquiry
an official effort to collect and examine information about something:the act of asking questions in order to gather or collect information

MLA Format
the format recommended by the Modern Language Association for preparing scholarly manuscripts and student research papers. It concerns itself with the mechanics of writing, such as punctuation, quotation, and documentation of sources.
Plagiarism
an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author
Paraphrase
express the meaning of (the writer or speaker or something written or spoken) using different words, especially to achieve greater clarity
Reflection
serious thought or consideration
Sufficient
enough to meet the needs of a situation or a proposed end
Transition
The connection (a word, phrase, clause, sentence, or entire paragraph) between two parts of a piece of writing, contributing to cohesion. Transitional devices include pronouns, repetition, and transitional expressions
