Define Resources
Resources include the "human, fiscal, and technical assets available"
What is flex time?
When employees decide to participate on company time or on their own time as long as they put in their regular number of work hours to feel a sense of program ownership
What are internal personnel?
Uses individuals from within the planning agency/organization or people from within the priority population to supply the needed labor
What is peer education? (another internal source)
Individuals who have specific knowledge, skills, or understanding of a concept help to educate their peers
What are external personnel?
Individuals from outside the planning agency/organization or priority population who would conduct part or all of the program make up a second source of personnel for a program
What are vendors?
- Companies that sell or offer programs, services, or consulting to groups wanting health promotion programs
- For profit: hospital, consulting agencies,
Non profit: voluntary, YMCA, colleges, governmental agencies
What is technical assistance?
Can also be known as capacity building assistance, can be defined as a relationship in which individuals with specific knowledge and skills but need help in completing the tasks more effectively
Forming (orientation stage)
members are introduced, meet, and get to know each other. Ground rules for the group are established such as defining the purpose of the team, team structure (roles and responsibilities), logistics for operation (procedures, meeting times), and expectations
Storming
members will have different opinions about team goals, assigned tasks, and responsibilities, and procedures. Possibly of team disbanding if conflict/ turf war is too great
Norming
team members finally understand their roles and establish closer relationships, intensifying the cohesion and interdependence of members
Performing
the fourth and final stage of team development, in which performance improves because the team has matured into an effective, fully functioning team
Adjourning or reforming
since the work is complete, the team may disband, and it may not be easy thus the term mourning. The team may continue on by refocusing its efforts on other tasks or problems
What is a logic model
a systematic and visual way to present and share your understanding of the relationships between your resources, your program activities, and your goals and objectives
Inputs
resources (or infrastructure) that are used to plan, implement, and evaluate a program
Ex.) training, technical assistance, volunteers, partnerships, funding sources, equipment, supplies, materials, and community resources
Activities
the interventions or strategies used in a program to bring about change
Outputs
direct results of the activities and include things such as products
Ex.) curricula, educational DVD, new software, data collection tools, services, new infrastructure, process, relationships, capacity, screenings, counseling
Outcomes
are intended results and are broken into short term (changes in awareness, attitudes, knowledge, skills), mid-term (changes in behavior or the environment), and long-term (risk reduction, change in impact, result of program)
What is implementation?
The act of converting planning, goals, and objectives into action through administrative structure, management activities, policies, procedures, regulations, and organizational actions of new programs
