anxiety, confusion, dizziness, sense of impending doom, chest pain, incontinence, swelling of lips and tongue, angioedema, wheezing, stridor, flushing, pruritus, urticaria, respiratory distress and circulatory failure -Anasarca->fluid leakage affects solid organs and peripheral tissues->decreased blood flow to pulmonary capillaries = pitting edema all over the body.
-Movement of fluid from pulmonary vasculature to interstitium->pulmonary edema, bronchoconstriction, reduced residual capacity. At this point an increase in O2 tx will not increase O2 sats
-Fluid moves into alveoli->edema, decreased surfactant, worsening V/Q mismatch, tachypnea, crackles, increased work of breathing
-CO begins to fail ->decreased peripheral perfusion, hypotension, weak peripheral pulses, ischemia of distal extremities(mottling)
-Myocardial dysfunction results in->dysrhythmias, ischemia, MI, end result->complete deterioration of cardio system.
-Mucosal barrier of GI becomes ischemic->ulcers, bleeding, translocation of bacteria, decreased ability to absorb nutrients
-Liver fails to metabolize drugs and waste->jaundice, elevated enzymes, loss of immune function, risk for DIC and bleeding
-General Signs: Infant generally "not doing well", Poor temperature control—hypothermia, hyperthermia (rare)
-Circulatory System: pallor, cyanosis, or mottling, Cold, clammy skin, Hypotension, Edema,Irregular heartbeat—bradycardia, tachycardia
- Respiratory System: Irregular respirations, apnea, or tachypnea, Grunting, Dyspnea, Retractions
-Central Nervous System: Diminished activity—lethargy, hyporeflexia, coma, Increased activity—irritability, tremors,
seizures, Full fontanel, Increased or decreased tone, Abnormal eye movements
-GI: poor feeding, vomiting, diarrhea or decrease stools, ABD distention, hepatomegaly
-hematological: occult positive, jaundice, petechia, bruising, splenomegaly
