psychological treatments (for BN)
part 1: teach physical consequences of binge eating and purging, 5-6 meals per day; no more than 3 hours apart (to prevent binging) part 2: cognitive therapy-dysfunctional thoughts about body shape, eating, weight
medication for BN
PROZAC approved by FDA (not for AN), not effective alone
psychosocial treatments for AN
must restore normal weight, most will gain weight (easy), keeping the weight on (hard), rest of the treatment program is similar to BN
