Light-Dependent Reactions
Require light to grow, it also use energy from light to produce oxygen gas and convert ADP and NADP into energy carriers ATP and NADPH.
1st stage; Photosystem II
Light is absorbed by photosystem II breaking up water molecules into energized electrons, hydrogen ions and oxygen.
2nd stage; Electron transport chain
The energized electrons go from the photosystem II to photosystem I passing through the chain
3rd stage; Photosystem I
Once the electrons were in photosystem I, electrons are energized again. Enzymes in the membrane use electrons to form NADP which is used to make sugar un the calvin cycle.
4th stage; Hydrogen Ions
The inside of the membrane is fully charge positively making the outside of the membrane negatively charged.
5th stage; ATP formation
When hydrogen ions pass through, ATP synthase their energy to convert ADP into ATP, so and enzyme catalysez a synthesis process.
