National Physical Activity Guidelines
An Australian government initiative to combat physical inactivity in young children to older adults.
Sedentary Behaviour
Activities that do not increase energy expenditure substantially above the resting level eg. screen-based entertainment.
NPAG - Early Childhood (0-5 years)

Non-Government Organisations
Community-based organisations that lobby for policy change and conduct programs and activities at a local, national or international level eg. VicHealth or National Heart Foundation (Jump Rope for Heart).
Individual Health Approach
Solve isolated problems, focus on a person's needs and problems and are reactive eg. specific print and web-based media or individual counselling.
Population Health Approach
Sustain Physical Activity levels, promote active behaviours, create a healthier population and are proactive eg. provide education about benefits of Physical Activity or provide program options to suit varying social and cultural circumstances throughout life cycle.
