Round character
complex and multi-dimensional; you know a lot about this person.
Protagonist
the main character in the plot's conflict.
Characterization
the techniques an author uses to create and develop a character.
Point of view
The angle from which story is told.
Exposition
explanation of the situation and the condition of the characters.
Antagonist
someone who offers opposition (bad guy or conflict).
Conflict
opposition in a work of drama or fiction between characters or forces.
Foreshadowing
the use of hints and clues to suggest what will happen later in a plot
Symbolism
A word or phrase signifying a sign or mark representing something else.
Irony
A comparison of what is expected to happen being opposite of what actually happens.

Underlying meaning and the author's purpose.
