Cell Theory
idea that all living things are composed of cells, cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things, and new cells are produced from existing cells
Plasma Membrane
a special boundary thst helps control what enters and leaves the cell
specialized structures that carry out specific cell functions
a distinct central organelle that contains the cell's genetic material in the form of DNA
Eukaryotic cells
contains a nucleus and other organelles that are bound by membranes also referred to as membrane-bound organelles
Prokaryotic cells
defined as cells without a nucleus or other membrane-bound organelles
