STUDY
PLAY
color
The quality of light reflected from an object. Examples: red, orange, blue, etc.
form
A three-dimensional object or the illusion of three dimensions
line
A point moving in space. It can vary in width, length, curvature, color, or direction.
shape
An enclosed two-dimensional area or plane.
space
The area between, around, above, below, or contained within objects. Can be positive or negative.
texture
The surface quality of materials, either actual (tactile) or implied (visual).
value
Lightness or darkness of a hue or neutral color.
positive space
In a composition, the main thing.
negative space
In a composition, all of the remaining space around the main thing.
hue
another word for color.
saturation
how concentrated a color is, also called intensity.
geometric
describing shapes like squares, rectangles or circles.
organic
describing shapes like blobs, trees or rocks
additive color
the color of light. Red, green and blue are the primaries.
subtractive color
the color of objects. Red, blue and yellow are the primaries.
