database
A structures collection of records used for storing data in a highly efficient and organised way so that it can be easily and quickly retrieved
data
Information entered into the computer to be processed that consists of text, numbers, sounds, and images.
flat file database
A database with just one table of data
fields
column headings in database tables. Fields are part of a record.
records
These are also rows in a database table, and they hold all the information about one subject.
data redundancy
when the same data is stored more than once in a table. This is sometimes called a data duplication.
relational database
a flat file database split into smaller tables that can be linked together to avoid data redundancy (duplicate data)
