Graph
Represents numerical information spatially
Linear Equation
An equation in two variables whose graph is a line.
Starting Value
aka the y-intercept (or figure 0)
Figure 0
Another way to represent the y-intercept (or starting value).
Function
A relationship in which for each input value there is one and only output value.
y=mx+b
Slope-Intercept Formula; when two quantities x and y have a linear relationship, that relationship can be represented with this equation, letting m represent slope and b represent the y-intercept
Variable
A symbol used to represent one or more numbers.
y-intercept
The point where a graph intersects the y-axis.
Zero Slope
Having a slope of zero (horizontal line).
Rate of Change
aka slope (Example: speed)
Situation
A word problem that we can receive information from for a certain equation or graph.
Change in x (delta x)
Horizontal part of the slope triangle; also is the difference in x-values
Parameter
Variables such as a, b, c, m, h, and k are often referred to this; often replaced with specific values.
Slope Triangle
A right triangle drawn on a graph of a line so that the hypotenuse of the triangle is part of the line.
Unit Rate
A simplified rate with a denominator, or change in x, of one.
Growth
One useful way to analyze a mathematical relationship is to examine how the output value grows as the input value increases.
Change in y (delta y)
The vertical part of the slope triangle; also is the difference in y-values
Slope
A ratio that describes how steep or flat a line is; can be positive, negative, zero, or undefined (change in y divided by the change in x)
Steepness
How vertical or horizontal a line on a graph is.
x-intercept
The point(s) where a graph intersects the x-axis.
Coefficient
A number multiplying a variable or product of variables.
Table
A chart with x and y values.
lattice points
The points on a coordinate grid where the grid lines intersect. These points have integer coordinates.

calculus
For each of the following quadratic equations, find the discriminant $\Delta$ and hence draw its sign diagram. Find all values of k for which the equation has: (i) two distinct real roots (ii) two real roots (iii) a repeated root (iv) no real roots. $2 x^{2}+(k-2) x+2=0$

The concentration C of a medication in the bloodstream t hours after being administered is modeled by the function $C(t)=-0.002 x^{4}+0.039 t^{3}-0.285 t^{2}+0.766 t+0.085.$ After how many hours will the concentration be highest?
algebra
Consider the following recursively defined function. F(1) = 4 F(2) = 6 F(n) = n $\cdot$ F(n - 1) + F(n - 2) Construct a table of the first six values of F(n).
