The members of the church realized that the kids are atticus kids because atticus is sticking up for tom robinson. Then there is lula who is saying why should you bring white kids to our church. He was leaving his office to go home and mr elwell came and got mr heck and said someone had raped his daughter. He went over to the house and found him laying on the ground. No one had called the doctor and all the injuries are on the right side of her face. It would take someone who is left handed. He gave mayella yes or no questions.
What two important facts does Atticus get from Mr. Tate?
no one called the doctors and her injuries.
Summarize Mr. Ewell's testimony.
he claims he saw tom trying to assault mayella and instead of checking on mayella he went and got Mr.Tate. He did not go get a doctor because he had never called a doctor on his children and if he did it would have costed him five dollars.

Then she said she fainted and said she remembered heck tate helping her off the floor and bringing her to the water bucket.
Explain why Mayella thinks that Atticus is making fun of her?

he pretends to be drunk because he prefers the company of black people instead of white people. during this time period no one would understand that. What is Mayella's "crime"? What was her only way of getting rid of the evidence?
mayella's crime is tempting a negro. The only way of getting rid of the evidence was to make sure she would never have to see tom robinson again. the only way to do that was to accuse him of something he did not do.

they all send atticus food, they are doing this because they are showing their appreciation to what he has done. Who seems most bothered by Bob Ewell's threat? Why?
scout and jem because they think mr elwell is serious and that he is not just talking to sound tough.
