there are two types of ignition on an oil burner, just like gas and they are
intermittent and interrupted

the type of motor found on an oil burner is
split phase or PSC
the type of motor found on an oil furnace is
shaded pole, PSC or ECM
on an oil burner where you can test the transformer voltage with a screwdriver, the spark gap should be not less than
1/2 inch
