Some causes of burnout are work overload, lack of control, insufficient reward, breakdown of community, unfairness, and significant value conflicts. Some suggestions are counseling, constructive thinking about your self, become aware of negative thinking, and cognitive therapy. Taking care of your self is important because often time burnout is not obvious to others until it is in advanced stages. Strategies are, make sure you have realistic expectations, know your limits, find other sources of meaning besides work, and recognize the early signs of burnout. Make sure you have spirituality, self-direction, work and leisure, friendship, and love.
