In the Project Library, Control-click the project, and choose Duplicate Project from the shortcut menu. Select "Duplicate Project + Used Clips" to copy the project and only the media used in the project. When this option is selected, a new Event is created, and you must enter a new name for the backup. Why would you want to create a disk image of your project or Event?
A disk image (.img) file is a useful way to archive Events and projects within a container that simulates a volume from a hard disk. With good media management practice in Final Cut Pro X, the disk image should contain everything necessary for editing those projects.
