Clinical Findings:
--Blowout fracture may be associated with enophthalmos and hypotropia (visual axis of the injured eye is displaced downward in comparison to that of the sound eye), diplopia in the primary position or in upward gaze, limitation of ocular movement in upward gaze, and decreased or absent sensation over the maxilla.
--CT scan of the orbit shows orbital floor displacement.
Treatment:
--Provide analgesia as needed.
--Apply a topical antibiotic ointment such as gentamicin, 0.3%.
--Apply cold compresses and a sterile eye patch.
Disposition:
--Seek early consultation with an ophthalmologist or other facial surgeon.
