What is Pelvic Inflammatory Disorder?

infection in the endometrium, fallopian tubes, and lining of the pelvic area, may have no symptoms. If symptomatic - lower abdominal pain, vaginal discharge, fever, burning with urination, pain with sex, or irregular menstruation. If untreated, can lead to infertility (about 20% of PID patients become infertile), ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, and cancer.

How to obtain Pelvic inflammatory Disorder?

-Use of IUD's may cause PID.
-Most often caused by untreated chlamydia or gonorrhea
-Risk of contracting PID increases with a high number of sexual partners, drug use, and vaginal douching.
-Can be treated with antibiotics

Most common type of STI's

can become very severe if untreated, BUT someone could look and feel perfectly healthy and also be infected with an STI. So, symptoms vary from very visible and painful to invisible and painless.

Parasitic and bacterial STI's can be cured with medications and antibiotics. Viral STI's cannot be cured.
