Next, he goes to the Penny Pantry store. He buys her a pen after he tells the lady behind the counter he wants a "frindle" and the lady doesn't know what he wants. He sends friends in there and after six days the lady knows the children are asking for pens when they ask for "frindles".
Finally, he made them all sign an oath to call a pen a "frindle" and nothing else. They also promised to make others do it.
This story happened in the present.
This story's setting is in your town with your friends.
This problem happened because Nicholas is a thinker and likes to experiment with people and words.
This happened by careful study and persuasion. Nick sent a different friend to the store everyday to ask for a "frindle". He trained the store clerk to recognize it through repetition and friendliness. Mrs. Granger probably just went along with his little joke to humor him. This means she did it to be nice. Grown ups do that because they love children to learn.
