Radius
A line segment with one endpoint at the center of a circle and the other endpoint on the circle
Circumference
The distance around a circle. A circles perimeter.
1 radius
1/2 the diameter =

Acute
An angle that is less than 90 degrees
Obtuse
An angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees
Right
An angle that measures 90 degrees
Straight
An angle that measures 180 degrees.
Acute Triangle
A triangle with 3 acute angles.
Right Triangle
A triangle with one right angle.
Obtuse Triangle
A triangle with one obtuse angle.
Equilateral Triangle
A triangle that has 3 congruent sides.
ScaleneTriangle
A triangle with no congruent sides.
Isosceles Triangle
A triangle with 2 congruent sides.
Protractor
A tool used to measure angles
Rectangle
A parallelogram with 4 right angles. A square is also this type of quadrilateral.
Square
A parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles.
Parallelogram
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides.
Rhombus
A parallelogram with 4 congruent sides. A square is also this type of quadrilateral.
Trapezoid

Probability
A fraction that describes how likely it is that an event will occur.
Line Graph
A graph that shows change over time.
Measures of Center
Mean, median, and mode are examples of this.
Mean
Is an average and measures Fair Share.
Mean
This 6 + 9 + 8 + 8 + 9 = 40
40 ÷ 5 = 8 shows?
Median
Middle # when put in high to low order, or the average of the 2 middle #'s.
Mode
The number that occurs most often in a set of data
Range
Biggest # - Smallest # shows variation
Open Sentence
An equation that contains a variable.
Variable
A letter or symbol used to represent a number that is unknown.
Expression
A mathematical phrase that contains operations, numbers, and/or variables. No equal sign.
Equation
A mathematical sentence that contains an equals sign.
Distributive Property
3(4 + 5) = 3 x 4 + 3 x 5
(3 x 4) + (3 x 5) = 3(4 +5)
Congruent
Having the same size and shape.
Distributive property
a(b + c) = ab + ac
Explains how "to distribute" a common factor among the terms of an equation. Ex. 3 (A + B) = 3A + 3B
Associative property
(a+b)+c=a+(b+c)
Changing the grouping of numbers will NOT change the value. For example: (7 + 4) + 8 = 7 + (4 + 8) also works with multiplication
communicative property
can be multiplied in any order, moving stuff around x + y=y+x
order of operations
Order you follow to complete a number sentence. Paranthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction
