The Highway Act of 1956
Enacted when Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the bill into law. It appropriated $25 billion for the construction of 41,000 miles of interstate highway over a 20-year period and was the largest public works project in American history to that point; primarily for military expediency in case of large scale attack.

1965 - Johnson figured that since the Gross National Profit had risen, the country had lots of extra money "just lying around," so he'd use it to fight poverty. It started many small programs, Medicare, Head Start, and reorganized immigration to eliminate national origin quotas. It was put on hold during the Vietnam War.
Roosevelt's first hundred days
fixed the banks with bank holiday; from early March through early June 1933. Roosevelt persuaded Congress to repeal Prohibition and pass 15 major pieces of legislation to help bankers, farmers, industrialists, workers, homeowners, unemployed, and hungry. Brought hope to the nation.
