Environment
Everything that surrounds a living thing.
Ecosystem
All of the living and non-living things in a place.
Habitat
The space where a plant or animal lives.
Population
All of one kind of organism living in the same space. For example all of the wolves in Yellowstone National Park.
Community
All of the populations that live and interact in an area.
Producer
A living thing that makes its own food. Examples are plants.
Consumer
A living thing that eats other living things. Examples are animals
Decomposer
An organism that breaks down dead organisms. Examples include earthworms, bacteria, and mushrooms.
Herbivore
Animals that only eat plants.
Carnivore
Meat eating animals
Omnivore
Animals that eat both plants and animals.
Food chain
Shows the path of food from one living thing to another.
Predator
An animal that hunts other animals for food.
Drought
Dry land caused when it doesn't rain for a long time. Plants wilt and die.
Erosion
When small pieces of rock are carried away by water and sometimes by wind.
