Sun's Nuclear Energy

The transfer of heat energy between substances that are in direct contact with each other. Heat transfers from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration until equilibrium is reached.
Transfer of heat energy through liquids and gases. The heat causes the fluid to move in an upward or downward motion. Warmer air and water will rise. Colder air and water will sink. Cool air holds less water vapor than warm air.
Light energy
Sun's energy that travels through space to the Earth.
Thermal energy
Another name for heat energy. Light energy is transformed into heat energy after it arrives on Earth. Heat energy is present in warm air and warm water.
Transfer of energy in space through electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic wave transfers this energy into heat when it comes in contact with an object.
The movement of air from areas of higher pressure to areas of lower pressure. This is caused by the differences in Earth's temperature.

A process where two or more hydrogen atoms interact under pressure and weld or fuse together creating helium.

Sunlight increases the temperature of both the air and the land directly. The land increases the temperature of the air. The sun's energy is reflected, absorbed, and scattered in the atmosphere.

Wind moves air from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure which causes the differences in the Earth's temperature. Differences in the Earth's temperature are due to the sun's warming.

What causes different weather?
The Earth is closer to the sun in the winter, however, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the Earth. Because it is tilted away, it gets less direct heat and light. Conversely, the Earth is further from the sun in the summer, it is tilted toward the sun and therefore, there is more direct heat and light making it warmer in the summer.
Why is it warmer in the northern hemisphere in the summer than in the winter?
