Angular Displacement
The change in the angle as an object rotates.
Angular Velocity
The angular displacement of an object divided by the time needed to make the displacement.
Angular Acceleration
The change in angular velocity divided by the time needed to make the change; is measured in radians per second squared.
Lever Arm
The perpendicular distance from the axis of rotation to the point where force is exerted.
A measure of how effectively a force causes rotation; is equal to the force times the lever arm.
Moment of Inertia
The resistance to rotation.
Newton's Second Law for Rotational Motion
States that the angular acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net torque and inversely proportional to the mass of the object being accelerated.
