If you are not in class during a regular period, you need a pass.
Omweg on Gum (Campus Rule #2)
No gum at all, ever.
Omweg on hats (Campus Rule #3)
No hats/hoods/beanies in classrooms. There is a "threshold" rule: when you walk through the threshold into a classroom, the hat comes off.
Omweg on Litter (Campus Rule #4)
Omweg on class conduct (Campus Rule #6)
No being mean, harassing, bullying, hazing, verbal abuse, physical harassment, and no romantic PDAs.
Omweg on Safety (Classroom Rule #1)
SAFETY FIRST- Always honor and protect the emotional, psychological, and physical safety of this classroom.
Omweg on Classroom Enviroment (Classroom Rule #2)
Respect the learning enviroment and everyone in it: yourself, all other students, Mr. Omweg, the room. Etc.
Omweg on Guests (Classroom Rule #3)
Treat guests in our class with HOSPITALITY: other students, teachers, substitutes, etc.
Omweg on Whispering (Classroom Rule #4)
NO WHISPERING. No hidden or secretive language when we are in class. Talk to me outside, after class, or after school if you need privacy. Of course, you may talk softly (without whispering) if the timing is appropriate.
Omweg on Electronics (Classroom Rule #5)
No electronic devices without permission. Don't even have them out without permission. Don't ask to charge your device.
Omweg on Swearing (Campus Rule #5)
Omweg on Not Knowing How to Answer a Question (Classroom Rule #6)
When you don't have an answer to a question, respond in this way: "I don't know what the answer to that question is, but what I do know is this..." then offer a question or positive statement about the topic being addressed.
Omweg on Bags (Classroom Rule #7)
Bags, packs, and gear go on the floor and out of the aisles when class begins.
Omweg on Work from Other Classes (Classroom Rule #8)
No work from other classes without permission.

Keep the room clean and in order.

Sit up and with good posture. No heads on desks unless you are directed to do so. If you are tired, stand up, move to the side and continue to follow the lesson in a way that does not distract others.
Omweg on Make-Up (Classroom Rule #11)
No cosmetics, makeup, or related items are to be used in class.
Instruction and Whole-Class Discussion (Classroom Procedures #1)
-Give your full attention to the person speaking to the class-turn towards them, giving eye contact)
-During instruction, lessons, and discussion, wait to be called upon before speaking.
-Raise your hand to be called in turn when the current speaker is don't talking and not before.
-Postpone side-conversations when a speaker is addressing the class.
-Be conscious of others-do not dominate discussions without regard for others. Listen and ask questions.
-Use appropriate language, tone, and volume.
Electronic Devices (Classroom Procedure #2)
-Turn it off and put it away and out of sight.
-Get approval from Mr. Omweg if you want to use an electronic device for a specific purpose.
Announcements (Classroom Procedures #3)
-When announcements occur, behave so that anyone in the class may clearly hear the announcement.
Passes (Classroon Procedure #4)
-Use your own paper and specify the following: your name, the date and time, your destination, the reason for pass (e.g. "Restroom", "finishing test", etc.)
-Smoothly come up to the front for a signature.
-When you return, hand the pass back to me
-Only one student at a time will be allowed to use the restroom.
Problems with class, school, etc. (Classroon Procedure #5)
-Practice initiative and personal responsibility by acting in a -professional and mature way: come to see me about difficulties or problems before the last minute or before your parents freak out.
-Write me an email and let me know that you need some advice or support.
-Always come with something positive to offer, I.e., ideas about solutions to the problem. We can then evaluate what will be best when we meet.
-Take me aside or give me a note if you are having a rough time at that moment of that day
Questions about your grade or scores (Classroon Procedure #6)
-Write and email to Mr. Omweg. Please give me at least 24 hours to respond.
-Make an appointment to speak with Mr. Omweg after or outside of class.
-If you ask for a grade change, and don't have a reason other than wanting it to be higher, you will not get it.
Finishing In-Class Work (Classroon Procedure #7)
-Show Mr. Omweg your finished work.
-Help others (if applicable) with their work.
-Begin homework, vocabulary, or get ahead in the reading.
-Do work from another class with approval.
-Draw, read, or write.
Manners (Classroon Procedure #8)
-Use "please" when requesting something.
-Use "thank you" when request is met or when you are given something.
-No foul language: "People use foul language when they have run out of words."
-Do not take anything from anyone without permission.
Have a Question/Get my Attention/Need Some Help (Non-Emergency) (Classroon Procedure #9)
-If no one is speaking to the whole class, first, ask a neighbor for assistance.
-Otherwise, raise your hand quietly and wait to be acknowledged.
Quizzes/Test (Classroon Procedure #10)
-Write "INTEGRITY" next to your name before you begin.
-When finished, turn it in or turn it over as instructed.
-Postpone all conversations until I let you know that all tests are complete.
-Generally, when you are done, you may work quietly on projects.
Getting the Classes Attention (Works for Anyone Presenting To The Class) (Classroon Procedure #11)
-I will raise my hand
-When you see my raised hand, stop talking/working and focus on me.
-Alert others to my request for attention.
-When I have everyone's attention (no talking and eyes on me), I will speak.
Finding Your Assignments/Homework (Classroon Procedure #12)
-From reliable classmate.
-Some assignments will be posted to schoolloop in advance of due date-but not all of them.
When You're Tardy- (Entering the Class After Class has Started) (Classroon Procedure #13)
-Print your name, period, date, and time on the tardy sign-in sheet.
-Do not distract others while doing so.
-If you have a pass excusing your tardiness, then you should still sign-in and then smoothly give me your pass (Don't have one? That's an u excused tardy).
-Continue to your seat without interruption.
Sharpening Your Pencil (Classroon Procedure #14)
-Smoothly get up from your seat without interrupting the class.
-Sharpen pencil without interfering with the speaker, if there is one.
-Smoothly return to your seat without interruption.
Dismissal (Classroon Procedure #15)
-Do not pack up while instructions or discussion continues. Wait for my dismissal. The bell does not dismiss you.
-Police around your desk for stray obsessions or litter-even if it is not yours, pick it up and throw it away.
-Align the desks into the class formation. Use the marks on the floor to guide you.
-Stay away from the door until I dismiss you.
-If you are in 7th period, put up all chairs on the top of the desks.
Complaints/Reports Vs Requests (Classroon Procedure #16)
-Student complaint/report: "I don't have a pencil." Teacher response: "Ok".
-Student requests: "Mr omweg, may I please borrow a pencil?" Teacher responds: "Yes, thanks for asking."
Eating and Drinking (Classroon Procedure #17)
Unless it is an emergency or special occasion announced and approved by Mr. Omweg, only water is allowed in class. No sugary or creamy drinks allowed. No food without approval.
Classroom Cleanliness (Classroon Procedure #18)
-Do not write on the desks.
-Put litter in the waste basket. Put recyclables (cans, bottles) in the blue recycling bin.
-If you note that there are possessions or trash on the ground near your desk, or that there is writing on your desk, please notify me so that I may follow up with the previous class.
