what should patients with Precision not be exposed to?
A) MRI, bc it may result in dislodgment of the stimulator, heating stimulator, severe damage to the stimulator, leading to an uncomfortable jolting sensation.
B) Diathermy as treatment or part of a medical procedure
C) strong electromagnetic fields (power generators, theft detection systems,bc they can turn stimulator off, or cause uncontrollable jolting.
d) should not be charged while sleeping.
E) may cause issue with pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators
D) should not operate motorized vehicles or dangerous machinery while machine is turned on.

what is pain?
It is an electrical signal that travels along the spinal cord to the brain.
How does the IPG signal interact with the pain signal within the spinal cord?
sends electrical impulses through the leads to specific locations on the spinal cord to mask the pain signals. The masked signals travel to the brain where they are often perceived as a smooth, tingling sensation. This feeling, called parastethia, replaces the pain sensation.

What is SCS used for?

What do I need to know for after the surgery?
A) You may want a button down shirt bc you will not be able to have full range of motion of your arms as you heal from the surgery
B) you may want to get a grabber so u can pick things up while u heal from surgery
C) The day before surgery, go around your house and put the things u will need to get to in a place that is easy to reach (coffee filter on table) and (food in the fridge)
D) you will only be able to lift 5 pounds at a time so make sure you have help taking the trash out or anything else that may be heavy.
