STUDY
PLAY
experiment
A test done to see if a hypothesis is correct or not
hypothesis
A possible answer to a question that can be tested to see if it is correct.
infer
To draw a conclusion about something.
investigation
A process of asking questions to get information about something. Scientists carry these out about nature.
mass
The amount of matter in an object.
observe
To use your senses to gather information.
predict
To use observations and data to form an idea of what will happen under certain conditions.
matter
anything that takes up space
physical properties
Anything you can observe about matter using your 5 senses
solid
matter that has a definite shape and size
liquid
matter that has a volume that stays the same, but it's shape can change
gas
matter that does not have a definite shape or volume
volume
The amount of space an object takes up
mixture
A combination of two or more substances in which each substance stays the same. mixing flour, baking soda
solution
When two or more chemicals are mixed and you can no longer see each part. Kool-aid and water
Dissolve
When a chemical completely disappears in a liquid, EXAMPLE: sugar in tea
Wafting
Moving your hand close to a chemical and pushing it towards your face to smell

Sight, smell, touch and hear
temperature
a measure of how hot something is
