Water Cycle English
Terms in this set (25)
The process by which water is recycled into the atmosphere over and over again.
parts of the water cycle
sun, evaporation and transpiration, condensation, precipitation, runoff, accumulation/collection
the process where liquid water turns into water vapor when heated.
the process where water vapor attaches to dust particles and forms clouds of water droplets. It is when water changes from a gas back into a liquid like on the outside of a glass.
the process whereby condensed water falls down to earth from clouds.
the process in which water pools in large bodies like oceans, seas, and lakes.
liquid water falling in drops.
when water vapor is frozen into crystals and falls to earth in flakes.
partly frozen rain.
pellets of ice falling to earth in showers.
When water changes into a gas
Water in a liquid state becomes a solid
Water in its solid state becomes a liquid
100 degrees C
Water changes from a liquid to a gas at this temperature. (boiling point)
0 degrees C
Water changes from a liquid to a solid at this temperature.
the measure of the amount of heat.
made up of tiny or big water drops all floating in the air.
means "layer," and describes a sheet-like cloud.
means "heap," and describes a puffy cloud.

Why isn't rain salty?
21. Rain isn't salty even though 97% of the earth's water is ocean. Liquid water molecules evaporate into water vapor (gas), leaving the salt behind.
the process of water movement from plants' leaves, stems, and flowers up to the clouds
the flow of water, from rain, snow melt, or other sources, over land.
