This set contains a list of the most commonly used XHTML tags.

<p></p>
Marks the enclosed content as a paragraph; starts a new line with a blank line above it
<html></html>
Contains all of the content for an HTML document
<head></head>
Contains information about the web page document
<title></title>
Inserts content as the page title for the web page; will be located in the blue title bar at the top of the web browser
<body></body>
Contains all of the content to be displayed in the web page
<ul></ul>
Unordered List; creates a list of items that do not need to be in a specific order; default displays a bulleted list
<ol></ol>
Ordered List; creates a list of items that must appear in a specific order; default displays a numbered list
<li></li>
Identifies a list item in an ordered or unordered list
<dl>
Definition List; creates a list of definition terms, followed by a definition description
<dt>
Marks text as a term within a definition list
<dd>
Marks text as a definition within a definition list
<hr />
Draws a horizontal line (rule) in the web page
<a></a>
Marks the beginning and end of a hyperlink

Inserts a comment into the document which is not displayed in the web page
<address></address>
Identifies contact information; displays in italics
<br />
Inserts a line break in the web page; starts a new line within a paragraph

Identifies a long quote; displays plain text indented from the left and right

Emphasized content; italicized text
<strong></strong>
Strongly emphasized content; boldfaced text

Displays a graphic file in a web page

Identifies the start and end of a table structure

Identifies a row in a table

Identifies content for an individual table cell

Centers and boldfaces data in a table cell; usually used for column and/or row headings; use instead of the <td></td> tags

Marks the header rows of a table
