It can be scattered by air molecules, the efficiency of the scattering is wavelength dependent.
Why is blue light 9.37 more efficiently scattered than red light.
Why is sky blue?
As the sunlight passes through the atmosphere, the blue light scatters most efficient due to its shorter wavelength. Thus, our eyes see the sky as blue because it scattering in all direction randomly.
Why is sunset red?
The path length of the sun's rays through the atmos. is @ its longest, the longer wavelength (yellow, orange, red) survive and reach our eyes while shorter wavelength scattered away.
Color of Sunset & Air Quality
Red: dirty and polluted air.
Yellow: clean and little air pollution.
Gives the relationship btw incoming light angle and refracted light angle.
3 Things to know about Snell's Law
1. ONLY happens at the interface.
2. Some light is refracted and bent (towards normal) as it passes from one medium to another.
3. Index of refraction (n_i, always >1) is greater for violet (bent the most) than red.

How does a double rainbow work?
A person sees the red light from higher raindrop and violet light from lower raindrop.
What's the color of the Sun right before it sets?
GREEN. (red set first, then green, can't see blue due to scatters)
What 2 conditions are needed for a green T-storm?
Low sun angle & BIG t-storm.
How does green T-storm work?
As sun rays go though the t-storm, the blue light scattered away by atoms while red light absorbed by the high liquid water content of the cloud.
Thus green light survived.
