Communication

Sender
The person who initiates a conversation.
Receiver
The person who gives feedback to the sender. (for example, nod a head in understanding)
Message
Information that is sent and received between people using symbols. Verbal=talking. Non-verbal=gestures, body language, facial expression.
Feedback
The response given to the sender from the receiver
Intended meaning
Some kind of meaning the sender wishes to convey to the receiver.
Perceived meaning
How the receiver interprets the message from the sender. (
Channel
how the message is delivered. For example, telephone, e-mail, texting.
Context
place and time when the communication takes place (house, school, classroom, barn)
Internal Noise
inside stuff going on INSIDE the head that interrupts flow of communication.
External Noise
OUTSIDE noise that interrupts the flow of communication. Telephone ringing, lawn mowers, traffic, loud noises.
