purposed the working memory approach, a multi part system that temporarily holds and manipulate info while performing cognitive tasks. Parts of model, central executive, visuospatial sketchpad, episodic buffer, phonological loop, long term memory.
1) Central executive-integrates information from the phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, episodic buffer, and long term memory. Plays a role in focusing attention, selecting strategies, transforming info, coordinating behavior.
2) Visuospatial sketchpad- process both visual and spatial info, this kind of working memory allows you to process visual info about objects.
2)Phonological loop- can process a limited number of sounds for a short period of time. processes language and other sounds that you hear, or sounds you make.
2) Episodic buffer- a temporary store house that can hold and combine information from your phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, and LTM. refers to memories about events in your life.
3) Long term memory- Contains your memory for experiences and information from your life
