Manubrium
The superior region of the sternum that articulates with the the clavicles and the costal cartilages of the first pair of ribs.
Body
The large, elongated middle region of the sternum that articulates with the costal cartilages of the second through tenth ribs.
Xiphoid process
The small, inferior part of the sternum, shaped like the tip of a sword, that provides attachment for some abdominal muscles.
Jugular notch
A large depression located at the center of the superior border of the manubrium.
Clavicular notch
The point of articulation between the manubrium of the sternum and the sternal end of the clavicle, forming the sternoclavicular joints.
