Stories are Important way of handing down important lessons from one generation to another most people couldn't read or write so story telling became a way of teaching the stories found particularly in the old testament are narratives that contain ad teach truths about god. They are not scientific or literal texts.

No because they have been passed down for so long that there many have been a few changes made within the stories as they have been passed down.
