The degree that two straight lines are directed away from each other after they join at a vertex.
Protractor
A tool used to measure angles.
Right angle
An angle that measures 90 degrees.
Obtuse angle
An angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.
Reflex angle
An angle that is greater than 180 degrees because the angle is bent beyond the straight line.
Revolution
An angle that has gone around the full circle. 360 degrees
Isosceles triangle
A triangle with at least two congruent (same length) sides
Acute angle
An angle that measures less than 90 degrees.
Right angle triangle
A triangle with one right angle.
Equilateral triangle
A triangle with three congruent (same length) sides
Corresponding Angles
Angles on the same sides of a transversal line crossing two parallel lines. Forms an F
Alternate angles
Angles on opposite sides of a transversal line crossing two parallel lines. Forms a Z
Parallelogram
A quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides. A rectangle that has been pushed over.
Square
A quadrilateral with 4 sides that are equal and has all 90 degree angles.
Rectangle
A quadrilateral with four right angles. Opposite sides are congruent (same length)
Parallel
Two lines that never intersect
Perpendicular
Two lines that intersect (cross) to form right angles.
Opposite angles
Two angles that do not share a side. They are equal in value.
Adjacent angles
Two angles that share a common side and have the same vertex. Next to each other.
Co-interior angles
Angles that are both inside the parallel lines and on the same side of the transversal are supplementary. Forms a C
Congruent angles
Angles that equal the same value.
Vertex
A point where two or more straight lines meet.
Kite
A quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent sides (next to each other) congruent (same length) and no opposite sides congruent.
Rhombus
A parallelogram with four congruent sides. A square that has been pushed to the side.
Trapezium
