Youth depression is a serious mental health problem that causes persistent feelings of sadness and loss of interest in activates. It affects how an adolescent thinks, feels, and behaves, and it can cause emotional, functional, and physical problems.
Issues from peer pressure, academic expectations, sexual orientation, addictions in family, traumas, loss, change, divorce, bullying, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse
1. Authoritarian parenting- restrictive, punitive style. Places firm limits and controls on child and allows little verbal exchange (youth-unhappy, fearful, anxious)
2. Authoritative parenting-encourages youth independence but with limits on actions. Extensive verbal exchange is given, warm and nurturing(youth- self control, cheerful, self reliant)
3. Neglectful parenting-parent is uninvolved in Childs life (youth-poor relationships, low self esteem, delinquent behaviors)
4. Indulgent parenting-parent is highly involved, but places few demands and limits on them(youth-trouble getting respect, difficulty controlling behavior, can develop aggressive behavior)
