One full oscillation consists of motion from the first amplitude (maximal displacement) to the equilibrium, then to the other amplitude position, and then back to the equilibrium, and finally back to the first amplitude. So the total distance traveled in one oscillation is 4A where A is the amplitude.

We conclude that the pendulum went through the equilibrium position twice!
