Question

As a juror, what concerns might you have when hearing eyewitness testimony? Why?

Solution

Verified

The juror might have concerns about the accuracy of the information when hearing eyewitness testimony because it is not very reliable. It is not very reliable because our memory fades with time, also because we may, sometimes unaware of it, fill in the holes in our memory with false information or the information which we never stored. Furthermore, a trauma which a person can be experiencing while forming a memory can lead to the distortion of it. This can lead to the accusation of the innocent person as well as releasing the person who actually committed the crime.
