Herodotus is considered the "Father of History" in the Western world because of his dedication to researching information. He wrote The Persian Wars, and in order to do that, he chronicled and gathered information from many people who have witnessed the actual events. He defined his work with the term historie, which, translated from Greek, means search or investigation.
